The very wealthy became more wealthy in the last 30 years. Reagan cut their taxes and attacked the working class, lowering wages, thereby increasing profits. What did the rich do with their excess wealth? Did they invest in more productive capacity,…

Lately I’ve been consuming as much conservative media as possible (interspersed with TUMS ) to get a better sense of the mind and mood of the right. My read: They feel isolated, angry, betrayed and besieged. And some of their “leaders” seem to be tr…

You know, you've got to love the Republicans if for nothing other than the entertainment value. Let me preface the heart of this article by telling you where the Republicans are in the scheme of things. They are no longer the majority on Capitol Hil…

Profile Information

How often do you blog about politics?
Daily; I write for Op Ed News and am the lead liberal featured writer on hypocrisy.com. I have also had material appear on The World Can't Wait: Drive Out the Bush Regime
What political issues are most important to you?
Civil Rights for everyone; gay, lesbian (YES, I AM), bi-sexual, transgender issues; women's issues; freedom of choice; extricating ourselves from Iraq; preventing another overt act of aggression by beginning an unnecessary war in Iran; electing progressive candidates who will bring real change to America (I am a big supporter of Dennis Kucinich). Right now, what is most important to me is to keep John McCain and Sarah Palin out of office. John McCain is more of the same and Sarah Palin is not only not qualified to be vice president, but also a threat to women's rights (including the right to choose).

Cindy Sheehan picks up the torch!

It is with sadness that I must tell you that Shirley Golub did not win her election. She gave it a good run, in spite of being ignored by both the mainstream and progressive media, but Pelosi prevailed in the end.
Now, the torch has been passed on to Cindy Sheehan, who will challenge Nancy Pelosi as an Independent in November. Cindy has just announced that she has gained enough signatures to get on the ballot! That's a great victory, and now we want more!

The inmates are running the asylum

In November of 2008, there was a mandate for change. The Republicans were resoundingly voted out of power, largely because the economy was in the tank and the American public had no confidence that the GOP could get us out. In fact, it's pretty clear that the Republicans –… Continue

They (the Republicans, of course) still don't get it

You know, you've got to love the Republicans if for nothing other than the entertainment value. Let me preface the heart of this article by telling you where the Republicans are in the scheme of things. They are no longer the majority on Capitol Hill. They do not occupy the White House either. They lost the 2008 election on all fronts, not because Sarah Palin is a fool and John McCain is a mean-spirited hothead, but because the American people had absolutely no faith in their ability to get the… Continue

Can somebody help me with this?

The first thing I do in the morning is read the papers, as many as I can get in print and online. Before I write anything, I've spent at least three hours absorbing the news of the world – both sides of the coin (liberal and conservative). There are just some things that boggle the… Continue

The greatest civil rights battle of our generation

Today I'm writing from a particularly personal perspective. On November 4, the United States took a great step forward by electing Barack Obama in a contest that – in the end – wasn't even really close. We also took three steps backwards as a nation by adding same-sex marriage… Continue

Sarah Palin and the Politics of Divisiveness

You can put lipstick on a pig, but you can't cover up the smell. And right now the Wicked Witch of Wasilla smells pretty bad. If Senator McCain is looking at the most recent polls with open eyes, he'll come away with the conclusion that Sarah Palin is the single biggest detriment… Continue
