The President's Address to the Joint Session of Congress

Obama started out summing up why we are where we are:

"...Our economy did not fall into decline overnight... We have lived through an era where too often, short-term gains were prized over long-term prosperity... A surplus became an excuse to transfer wealth to the wealthy instead of an opportunity to invest in our future.

Well that day of reckoning has arrived, and the time to take charge of our future is here.

Thank you. As he has said countless times, it is not a time for looking… Continue

Poverty

This is a speech I recently gave.

Here is the speech I worked on all day yesterday.

It is on the rise. It is color-blind, does not discriminate against gender, religion or nationality. It has been increasing since the 1960’s, and even today, with our technology and advancements, we are continuing to see it’s numbers increase. I am talking about poverty. To All My "One Issue" Friends

Here is what Barack Obama will do, my friend:

What Barack Obama Will Do

An Obama administration will do more than a McCain administration for the cause of life, by drastically reducing abortions through giving women and families the support and the tools they need to choose life.
Barack Obama will continue to strive to make a life with dignity for all from the beginning to the end of life possible - by making sure health care is affordable, combating poverty, providing good paying jobs, and… Continue

Feeling out of place in a place that claims unity...

This was an interesting evening... So much said, so much not said, so much intimated.

As of 1999, abortion rates have dropped to pre-1977 numbers and they are continuing to drop. Did you know that?? I didn’t! Why don’t we know this fact?

What else do we not know. Do we know the number of children in this country who are in poverty?? According to Free the Children, 15 million children are living in poverty, 25… Continue
