First, congratulations and thanks for the post. I think that the media campaign is well under way. In fact, fans of indyCar Racing have already seen numerous spots by Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan for Apex-Brasil So here's a little something to g...

Cindy, Without a true public option, I can not assure you that all procedures would be covered by a private insurer. In that respect, the new plan would be no different than the way private insurance companies handle claims now. Private insurance...

The talk of the new health care reform really scares me. I am concerned that we will not be able to get the kind of health care that we need. What if you have a blockage and are in need of Heart surgery. Will you be eligible for the procedure if y...

Thanks for the great post. Democrats should probably anticipate a loss in Virginia. As this article by E.J. Dionne points out: "As Obama’s numbers fell among independents, so did those of R. Creigh Deeds, the Democratic nominee whose chances of vi...

A Video That Every Political Junkie Should See

Orwell Rolls in His Grave

This documentary examines the relationship between the media, corporate America, and government. In a country where the "top 1% control 90% of the wealth", the film argues that the media system is nothing but a "subsidiary of corporate America." Director: Robert Kane Pappas - Run Time 1 Hour 46 Minutes«

This Is Our Brain on Fear

If you were raised in the United States, you can probably recall the PSA with the image of an egg frying and the saying, "This is your brain on drugs". Well the current political climate in America indicates that our collective brain is well on its way to being just as fried.

In an article for Alternet, Tammy Ganeva outlined the, "

Health Care Reform - How Bad Do We Want It?

Many of my friends who live outside of the United States simply can't understand why it is so hard for our government to come up with a plan to provide quality health care for all of its citizens. They ask why there is so much resistance to something that would certainly benefit all Americans, I have tell them it's because we don't really want it.

It's easy to lay the blame for the lack of progre

I Wonder If Any of Those Children Asked, "Why?"

Dear friends,

It's a sad irony that while the President and First Lady are taking their two young daughters on the trip of a lifetime, other African-American parents had to explain to their children why a group of White parents didn't want them to swim with their children.

Ramblings from Rehab

a blog post that was started on 5/6/09

Sorry, this is not going to be one of those glamorous public confessions about drug addiction. I just knew that the post title would grab attention. People just love a public fall from grace, don't they?

Rather this is a post about why I've turned off, or rather tuned out, C-SPAN and much of corp

The Santelli Tea Party Movement - A Call for Fiscal Conservatism or Something Else

"The right will take some time to absorb this but Bush was Carter II - with two full terms. All that rage at what has actually happened - bottled up by rank partisanship for years - has come bounding out. Hence the bizarre spectacle of a president just two months on the job being treated on the right as if he's already Robert Mugabe. Throw in a little racial and cultural panic, add a world of genuine economic pai

Dear Pamela,

I know we had a bit of an accidented start, mostly because a mistake of mine. Talking to Catherine, she has told me you are the responsible of keeping this place going on the way it does. For that, for gathering so many great blogger women, I'd like to thank you, for making all this possible.

The posts, the intensity of many of them are an undeniable prove of what us women can do, how politics are not only the arena of men or the arena of those with the means, but also the arena of those with a voice and a mind.

Thank You!

Hello! Sorry, I didn't mean no harm, though those were my first impression from what I read. In a way I expected 100% politics and more political opinions, more delving and mulling over the issues themselves and not so much the people making the political moves, which I didn't find in my first readings. I'm genuinely interested in the community, as a source of a different, perhaps more human approach to social issues through politics. Bashing for the fun of it, or just "bashing" is not my style, but I do say things as I see them, and that isn't something I'm planning on changing in the near future. Still, I guess I could be just a tad more careful. :-)

If I've offended someone I'd like to apologize.

Thanks so much Pam~can I call U Pam now that we will be friends(I hope) I was wondering what you thought about Our Presidents Speech on National Sec. today @ the Archive hall? It was AMAZINGLY Open & very moving to me. I felt like he hit the points with effective grace as always but I wish the TORTURER in chief~our former VP could have went first! The Pres, speech was 100% more meaningful than D.C's! Why anyone wouldn't see the thought thats gone into the Pres.new policys on gitmo is beyond me! It seems so AMERICAN to me & he is right about it....why cant the right give him the respect he deserves. He is leading us in such a difficult time & I think in time it will all be obvious the impact & success his thoughtful policys will provide us ALL! What say U?
