I've been gone from the blogging world for what feels like a very long time.
And
Now, it's time to return...
With a mission.
For the past 8 months I have been working -- 28 to 35 volunteer hours 7 days a week -- to care for and socialize dogs seized from an out of control and badly neglected breeding situation.
On December 11 and 30, 2008, approximately 200+ dogs, 3 cats, 10 cockatiels, a bunch of chickens, and one very loud rooster were seized by Yellowstone County (Billings, MT) and taken… Continue

For ten years, I flew throughout the world working as a Flight Attendant. For five of those years, much of my life was spent flying MACs and CAMs in and out of "hot spots" in the world. Panama, Africa, the Middle East, South America, Central America, Turkey, Athens, Europe...if American troops needed to be somewhere or return from somewhere, the airline I worked for most often carried them to and fro.
I express my thanks to God every day for the brave men and women who serve in the military, bu… Continue
It is a new day and the world is singing and dancing with us! FINALLY, once again!
My heart continues to be overwhelmed with emotion.
The past 4 days I have found myself in such a state of euphoria that I can't seem to stop dancing and smiling and dancing some more and smiling even harder! This must be how the Suffragettes felt in 1920 and how the Civil Rights Activists felt in 1964. For the moment, just for the moment, I want to continue to bask in this amazing sense of possibility, of hope,… Continue

No matter what...
Today is the first day of a brand new world.
On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress approved The Declaration of Independence, severing ties with the British Crown and establishing the United States of America.
In doing so, this new nation declared that all Men are created equal.
TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY-TWO (232) years later, the grandest acknowledgment of that equality is manifesting. Today, a person of color or a woman will be elected to one of the two highest and… Continue
It's about the people...the possibility of an administration once again remembering that it's about the people...what a great HOPE and what a wonderful, welcome CHANGE.

I don't know who wrote this since I received it in an email, but I think it is excellent food for thought. What do you think? How far have we come as a country when it comes to race?PONDER THE FOLLOWING FACTS
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his grad… Continue
Being a long time fan of all three gentlemen and their careers aside, this is one of the best "election" videos I've seen so far.
Smart, creative, straight-to-the-point message and enjoyable!
Politics...
Whether we like it or not, politicians are the lawmakers of our country.
For me, the more I watch and observe politicians the more this becomes an increasingly disturbing thought.
But
Hope continues to reign supreme.
Where do I find this hope?
My faith, of course...
But
Also through the amazing phenomena called social networking.
A small number of my real life friends poo-poo social networking because of this or that, but for me, every time one of my social networking "frien… Continue

U.S. Marshall escorting James Meredith to class at Ole Miss in 1962
I will be watching tonight's debate knowing just how historical this event truly is.
Oh and gee, glad to know John McCain has decided to show.
Yes, the economy is in the toilet. It has been for sometime, Senator… Continue
A few years ago I joined a small group of women in a small town in Montana stand in protest of the war in Iraq every 1st Monday of the month. Our peaceful protest includes signs and little white Christmas tree lights - one light for each American military death in Iraq. (I don't think… Continue

I have no idea who wrote this, but I LIKE it! I received it as a FWD in an email.
I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....
If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."
Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.
If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.
Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
Attend… Continue
As a young girl growing up in Montana, regular visits to Yellowstone National Park were part of our family routine.
If relatives came for a visit, we took them to Yellowstone.
If friends came for a visit, we took them to Yellowstone.
If it wa… Continue
The day the world received the news that Senator Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with a brain tumor, a fellow blogger I respect a great deal, Pamela Lyn, wrote an excellent piece that's been in my mind ever since.
With yesterday marking the 40th anniversary of Robert Kennedy's assassination, I have been reading a number of blog posts on the Kennedy family and their legacy.
Like Pamela Lyn, a Kennedy… Continue
What an interesting time this is in the United States of America.
Yesterday, the majority of the Democratic Party leadership clung to THEIR rules rather than American Democracy.
I guess they have learned NOTHING from history. When the rules are wrong, change the rules.
The majority of the Democratic Party leadership weakened not just the Democratic Party yesterday, but they weakened what America stands for -- freedom, human rights, and democracy.
Many Clinton and Obama loyalists probably see… Continue
As the Rules and Regulations Committee of the DNC convenes today, I can't help but wonder...
When Americans in political positions of leadership subvert the freedoms of American citizens and American Democracy how are their actions any different from dictators… Continue

Montana...
Not exactly the state anyone thinks of as being important in a presidential election.
At least not most politicians running for the office.
My state rarely sees a presidential candidate. Considering we are one of the last states to vote in a Democratic primary election and we have one of the lowest populations of all 50 states, I guess our votes are not "important" to most politicians.
But
This year...
We have been visited twice by Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and President Bi… Continue

Growing up in the 60's and 70's I was blessed to have strong women for role models.
My mom at the top of the list.
At 17-years-old, she was recruited by the FBI to work for J. Edgar Hoover. My mom worked throughout her entire career in a male dominated promotional system. Without a college education and female, my mom had to work harder and smarter than anyone else to qualify for a promotion. And that she did. Upon her retirement from the government she had risen as high as she could in her fi… Continue

Painful lessons
Primary reveals obstacles facing women in politics
By Lynette Long
May 18, 2008
This primary campaign has been quite a learning experience, but the lessons have mainly been bitter ones for women. Here are some things I learned on the way to the Democratic National… Continue

In the darkest of times, strength of character still rises...in some.
Irena Sendler's strength ran as deep as her courage ran high.
Irena passed away this week at the age of 98.
Who was Irena Sendler?
She was strength beyond measure.
She was courage defined.
She was humanity… Continue
