Sarah Who?

Sigh.

This is not really about the Hillary supporters. That's a big cover. McCain did this for the cash from the Religious Right - he had no choice. They don't really think we will vote for Palin-via-McCain because Palin is a woman. Think Republican for once... They think Hillary Clinton supporters are stupid for other reasons, and any Democrat who votes for them and doesn't agree with their policies will prove them right.

There are a lot of reasons NOT to want this woman in that office. That she wouldn't be ready to run the country and pro-life views does not even scratch the surface.

Palin is one of the Religious Right (aka RR); because of the way churches and religious organizations have treated my son, I am totally averse to organized religion of any sort. Don't even get me started on her baby with Downs - and she wants to be the VP and be totally away from it????? Being a mom of a 16 year old with autism, I know the deal. And yes, I have heard the rumors about the parentage of that Downs baby, but let's give her the benefit of the doubt and say it is hers, since she and her husband are supposedly raising it.

It is one thing to be a mother and work. I know what it's like to have a special needs child and work full time. But I don't - because my son needs me to be home to advocate for him. I read once that raising one special needs child can take the time of raising 10 neurotypical (NT) kids. They say that when you have two NT kids, you have 4 times the work. Does that mean Palin then has at least 30 times the work of parents of five NT children? That she has no interest in foreign policy, or even experience with other countries, and accepted this nomination, and of course while having a baby (a baby, not an older child, no less) with Downs at home, is the sign of a person with an ego the size of Kansas that has no business taking on the welfare of an entire country. In addition, it shows she has no clue about special needs children, and what hers is going to need. I cannot see how she can really value the presidency, or have any grasp of the concept. And I cannot begin to describe what this says about McCain's judgment in picking her. But I digress.....

BO gave a very good speech on Thursday night. I am not a BO fan, so that is a lot for me to say about him. The whole situation was so powerful, with the Parthenon/Lincoln Memorial and the pyrotechnics, etc., that McCain knew if he picked milquetoast Romney or Pawlenty, he'd lose in November. He needed a big boom. So he had to do something drastic, and via Palin the RR gave him the push over the cliff.

This isn't the DNC's doing as much as it has been the RR's plan. They are slime, they have had this up their sleeves for years just waiting for the weak moment; they saw McCain floundering and jumped on it. Her name has been in the news a lot the last couple of months...a quick Google will confirm that. I don't think the DNC or the media were looking for McCain to go RR, everyone thought he'd would pick someone with strengths he didn't have, i.e. Romney and the economy. HOWEVER - This has always been the problem with the DNC - we Dems always lose because they don't look at the BIG PICTURE. And the media gets so wrapped up and in love with themselves, that they and the DNC start believing their own hype.

In addition, by putting Palin on the ticket, McCain has done in any future presidential run Hillary Clinton could ever have. Taking into account the fact/theory that incumbents almost always win, in the case of an incumbent/female candidate, I doubt the DNC would run HRC. And with Palin in the White House, in any capacity, the Religious Right will have the capacity to unleash their poison.

Friday on Sirius Left Ed Schultz had a guest, Richard Viguerie, an author who runs one of those RR fanatic groups. Basically what he said was that they had met with Palin and about 400-500 of their group members, and what they want to do is to get Palin in office so that they (the RR) can pretty much get in and take over.

If you follow the RR at all, you know they have just been waiting for this. You know they would also load the cabinet and other offices with their people. Palin's foot would be in the door for 2012. If McCain could do eight years, she's got a good shot for 2016.

Viguerie essentially said that McCain was offered a lot of money to put a young RR conservative in, and they told him that if he didn't, without them and their money, he would lose. He said the RR group has been keeping track of their base, they know what's what. Ed said that Viguerie has his finger on the pulse of the conservative religious Republican base, that he's the most accurate person he knows. So let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

What this adds up to is this: Even if McCain "isn't that bad" (which is what friends of mine have said, which I know is just dumb), the Religious Right IS. And if they get one foot in, they are like a virus....this means in actuality, McCain can affect the whole shebang for decades to come. With this baby in the VP, the Republicans, courtesy of the Religious Right, will be there for the next **50** years. McCain may not run again, but you can bet SHE will. Downs baby and all. And if they don't run her, Jeb Bush will be ripe for the picking. (Now him, the DNC might run HRC against.)

I saw Darragh Murphy on MSNBO tonight, and she and PUMA are going to support McCain and Palin. Murphy was absolutely right tonight when she said that if HRC/BO had been the ticket, the Dems could have had the presidency for 16 years; first with HRC/BO for 8 years, and then BO/??? for the next 8. Then she said that instead, because it's BO/JB, the Republicans will have it for 16 years.

Murphy is SO wrong. She, like the DNC, is not looking at the BIG picture. It's going to be a lot longer than 16 years if McCain wins with Palin on the ticket. On top of that, this woman Palin is against everything Hillary ever stood for. To put those hypocrites, much less Palin into office first, instead of our girl, is like stabbing Hillary in the back, or spitting in her face. Or Both.

I won't do it.

I got an email tonight about PUMA "forming another party" - but it looks like it's just a PAC that helps market candidates. They were supposed to have a website up last night, but it's not there yet so I don't know any more. A group I am in looked into starting a new party, and it's a really huge project; you have to get so many signatures in every state, and I don't think PUMA did that.

So at this point, maybe I will wait and see how the polls are going closer to the election. I'd rather BO won, if he's going to win, without my vote, because of how I feel about the policies that are important to me. Holding my nose and pulling the lever (again, sigh) is not something I want to do, much less to save his ass. And Whatserface could very well implode - she has an Abuse of Power case pending (she allegedly tried to get her former brother-in-law fired), along with a couple of other things. We cannot afford to have McCain win with a religious nutbag next in line....what if he croaks????

And like I said, now, odds are HRC won't run again no matter who wins this election. So the whole Hillary case is moot. If BO wins, Hillary will be 68 in 2016. Ok, that's younger than McCain now. But I doubt she'd run unless she was in perfect health. A lot can happen in 8 years. We could try to lobby to get her on the Supreme Court....

If McCain wins, that is the end of life as we know it. Even Lieberman looks good right now. You think Bush is bad, welcome to RR Hell.
