Political Voices of Women Community

Women blogging about politics.

As we approach the final days of elections the fight over the same sex marriage campaigns disturb me. It does not matter if one is in favor or against gay marriage it is just an absurd the amounts of money people behind these campaigns are expending on it. Even worst, in my opinion are the hate contents coming from the organizations that campaign against same sex marriage.

One may be against gay marriage and we all have all reasons and believe. But to tell me that a child has more love or a better education and so forth if this child is in a family with one man and one woman as parents is just not real.

Everyday we see and hear about divorce rates skyrocketing and not to mention the physical, emotional and sexual abuse from many of these “normal” families. To judge and say that love is something one child can only get from a heterosexual couple is unreal and prejudice.

It is a shame that at this point in life we have to be expending millions of dollars on an issue that should not be a government or State issue in the first place.

Paula, I think the real issue is not as political as some would want to believe. In my opinion, Republicans have a higher set of standards than Democrats. Maybe that is why Hollywood supports the Democrats no matter who is on the ticket. I believe the issue on same sex marriages is about keeping in place SOME moral values. Our children aren't being given a good set of values and morals. Some would say it is not up to the government to choose the path for our future adults. Well, someone MUST! If you doubt they aren't being taught at home just go to the mall and take a good look our young teens (with or without parents in tow). I won't elaborate but it shouldn't be hard to get the point. Discipline has been taken out of our schools because parents want to take care of that at home. That's not happening either. Instead we have children taking guns to schools (and malls) and taking innocent lives. SOMEOME HAS to intervene! Why are so many fighting to keep morals OUT of our society??? Haven't we lost enough moral values? Are your rights more important than a safe, moral country for our children? They are the future leaders of this country, if we have a future!!!!

Paula, I will never stop being amazed by the facts that the two most divisive issues in US politics really shouldn't be "political" issues at all.

Great post.
